Sakura (さくら) season
Sakura season which comes just at early spring in Japan, is a very big thing.
The blossoming period is short, only lasts for maybe 2 weeks, and if it rains, then it's even shorter.
Considered one of the national flowers of Japan, the blossoms and anything that comes with it, is undoubtedly the most enjoyed time in the country.
People stay outdoor until late, taking a long stroll, and pick-nicking under the trees or Hanami.
The blossoms branches in the parks are hung low so you feel like you can touch them as you sit under the tree and enjoy your bento and sake.
Like one Japanese told me, the Sakura season is the season to be joyful, everyone is so happy they would smile all day.
I love to play around with my camera shooting the flower buds, close ups, and mostly in monochrome, just to see the literal shape and shadows of the flowers itself. And of course perhaps to capture the beauty and happiness of the season itself.
